With Christmas rapidly approaching and everyone getting more excited and starting to get into the festive spirit, Manchester is once again set to put on a wide range of activities and festive themed events, including things to buy, see and do!

If you’re lost for ideas for date night, want some festive family fun or you’re just looking for things to do with friends, then Manchester is the place to be this December!

What’s going on in Manchester over Christmas?

The Christmas Markets

The famous Manchester Christmas Markets are back! It’s the perfect chance to get in the holiday spirit and try some amazing food and drinks (like the Christmas dinner in a Yorkshire pudding wrap!!!) They’re opened on the 10th November and will run until 20th December 2017. The main Christmas market hub is once again based in Albert Square in front on the Town Hall, where there will even be an extra day of shopping available on the 21st December.

The markets are being held in 8 separate locations across the city centre and are open from around 10 am daily to 8-9pm, depending upon the location you visit, and provide the ideal opportunity to shop for some unique, handmade gifts for loved ones!

Bar Hütte

For the fourth year running, the popular festive Bar Hütte and its Christmas Carol-oke cabins are returning to Spinningfields. Alongside the main bar area, there are 8 hüttes, which each have carol-oke machines loaded with classic Christmas songs for all to sing along to.

These cabins can fit groups of up to 10 people as well as VIP chalets available to hire for up to 20 people. Each cabin is decked out with rustic wooden décor, festive lights and comes complete with a dedicated host to serve hot and cold refreshments.

Manchester Ice Rink

The ice rink is in a new location this year and can be found on First Street. The 70ft x 50ft rink has a capacity for up to 100 skaters at any given time and will be open seven days a week throughout the festive season!

Don’t stress if you’re not a pro skater though, the trusty penguins will be on hand to help stabilise you!

If ice skating tends to make you slightly peckish then why not visit some of the incredible food and drink options along First Street? Many places including Kettlebell Kitchen, Junkyard Golf Club, The Launderette, Indian Tiffin Room, WOOD Manchester, Pizza Express and Gasworks Brewbar are offering 10% off for all ice skating ticket holders.

Have a wonderful holiday season

There’s so much more to do than just the activities listed above, such as the Christmas prosecco festival at Albert Hall, The Coca-Cola Truck, and even Elf the Musical at the Lowry Theatre you don’t want to miss out on all the fun!

Make sure to immerse yourself in the festivities, have fun and stay safe this holiday season!
